Flora Fountain now known as Hutatma Chowk (Martyr's square) is a beautifully
sculptured fountain, standing at a busy five-point intersection in the
commercial Fort area at the heart of Mumbai. Named after the Roman goddess
of abundance, it was erected in 1869 in honour of Sir Bartle Frere,
the governor of Bombay responsible for dismantling the fort and
shaping much of modern Mumbai. This political hot spot is usually occupied
for political rallies.
