The Royal Bombay Yacht Club, located just
north of the Taj Mahal Hotel looks directly onto the Gateway of
India. It was built in 1898 in Gothic style. The landscaped garden between
the Yacht Club and the Gateway of India is a favorite weekend picnic spot.
It is graced by a statue of the Maratha leader Shivaji astride his horse.
