Situated at Mahal, 60kms north of Dang district, Purna Sanctuary is a
thick damp deciduous forest covering an area of 160sq kms. Crossed
by Purna and Gira rivers, it is the home to various species of animals
like sambar, chital, rhesus macaque, hanuman langur, common grey hornbill,
tiger, leopard, rusty spotted cat, four horned antelope, giant squirrel
and so on. The sanctuary is a trekkers paradise with the bamboo line pathways.
Prior permission is required to visit this sanctuary. November to March
is the best season to visit the sanctuary.
