Mangalagiri located 13km south of Vijayawada is popular for its sarees and dress materials by the name of Mangalagiri handlooms. These are made from Mangalagiri cotton and have solid, striped or chequered patterns in solid colours and with zari borders. The colours are vibrant and go well with the zari and the cloth is usually finely woven cloth. In recent times Mangalgiri has acquired the status of brand name.
