| Vijayawada, the third largest city in Andhra Pradesh
is located on the banks of the river Krishna. Vijaywada literally meaning
'The Place of Victory', derived its name from the presiding deity Kanaka
Durga also known as Vijaya. Earlier known as Bezwada it was an important
centre of the Vishnukundin rulers in the 5C -6C and the headquarters of
the Early Chalukyas of Badami. The city is a major railway Junction in
