Dear Sir,
I am working in Titagarh Wagon Limited as a Senior Excise Executive. Please advise me what is the applicable rate of excise duty of wagon for private parties. Because many private parties asked why we are applying the 10% rate. As per their view it will be 5% as per notification 2/2011 dated 1st March 2011.

Dear Sir,
The Notification No. 2/2011 dated. 1st March, 2011.
In the aforesaid notification rate of excise duty will be 5% for all goods falling under sub-heading 8601 to 8606. But as per tariff the rate is 10% for Railway Wagon falling under sub-heading 8606.
Please advice us what is the applicable rate of excise duty for private parties.
