Q Mam i am very much interested in company accounting i really enjoy preparing financial statements.. i just wanted to know what qualification is needed to be an accountant in a public or private company also i wanted to know how the private and public company prepare their accounts obviously they do not prepare everything on paper like we do... then by using MS excel??

Hi Sanaya,
Love to hear that you are interested in company accounting. This is a very interesting field and requires lot of patience and interest. Since you are very interested in it you can take up ICWA and work towards it. At the beginning you will find it a bit tricky but later on you will really find it useful and very interesting. This will help you to enter into the corporate world and provide them lot of suggestion and methods to maintain their book of accounts.

The public and private sector companies usually have their own ERP systems to maintain the book of accounts. The latest ones are Oracle, SAP etc. Small and petty company maintain their accounts using some accounting packages like Tally etc. So it is always better to know how to maintain accounts in a paper so that the same applies when systematized. The functionality is going to be the same but it is using a system rather using a paper record.
