Senior Citizens Deposits in P.O. for Rs.1,00,000/- get income tax benefit under Sec.80C. But for this, the P.O.s must mark the passbooks to have been issued under tax saving scheme Sec 80C of the I.T.Act, just like banks do, to distinguish them from other deposits which can be withdrawn in a year. But they do not do so.This grave defect has to be corrected so that depositors do not lose the benefit declared by the Govt.
