How do u maintain the right temperature to melt gel wax?

I want to make roses with black clay. The product has to be fired. To give a glossy finish,I paint them with pearl finish fabric paint.Can I improve the look by dipping them in melted wax.I want the flowers to look dewy. Thank you.
