Jeevodaya believes that with every child who comes into the
world, the hopes and dreams of the human race are born anew. Children are the
bearers of our common future – a future that is in our hands as never before.
For the world have the knowledge, the resources and the legal imperatives to
give every child the best possible start in life. Children need to grow, to
learn and to develop to the fullest. Children should get proper environment for
their growth and development. We envision to create a society where in, every
Child of the Platform, On the Platform and abandoned can avail equal
opportunities, proper environment, have self dignity and are able to manage
their own developmental affairs.
Our objective is to bring qualitative change in the life of
neglected/abandoned children at the railway platform of Itarsi day care centre.
Itarsi railway station is a big junction with around 130 train passing every
day. We found that about 200 children are found here among these 30% are from
near by place of Itarsi, Hoshangabad, Khandwa, Bhopal, etc. These children have
some sort of contact with their family and most of the boys stay on the
platforms. Main jobs of these children are sweeping in the trains, selling water
bottles, rag picking etc. These children face several problems such as hazardous
labour, sexual abuse, lack of shelter, drug addiction, threat from the law and
delinquency. Now we wish to run the day care centre in an organised way and
provide more facilities for these children who are facing the above problems at
their tender age. This centre is taking and providing following facilities for
betterment and change in their life. Now most of the children are going to
schools, others attend vocational training like electrician, home management,
tailoring, music, etc.
