One of the most ardent disciples of Acharya Choodamani Smt Anita Guha, Sathvikaa Shankar started dancing at the tender age of seven. While most children of her age were playing, Sathvikaa put her entire heart and soul into dancing, and the effort has paid off. She performed her arangetram in 2004 under the auspicious presence of Smt.Ranganayaki Jayaraman, Smt. Priyadarshini Govind, Shri Mannar Shrinivasan, and the dean and director of the P.S.B.B Group of Schools, of which Sathvikaa is a student. Today, she is one of the best known child artistes and has been conferred with the prestigious Balshree award, which aims at recognizing innovativeness and specializations of young Indians in the fields of Creative arts, Performance, Scientific innovation and Writing. She was given this award in 2005 at the young age of thirteen by the revered, then President of India, Dr.A.P.J.Abdul kalam. Sathvikaa is known for her expressions (bhavas) that accompany her dancing, as well as some of the epic characters that she has portrayed-including Hanuman. She manages to enthrall the audiences, and keep them mesmerized till the end of the show. She has received many reviews by reputed newspapers, like the Hindu, The Deccan Chronicle, etc. Sathvikaa has given several solo, as well as group performances. She has performed in various parts of the country, including Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai, etc. and has also represented India at various cultural exchanges(she was one of the cultural delegates to represent our country at Mauritius).
