| 1 | Respected Sir, First of all sorry for the delay in answering your query. Before enrolling for PhD, she must get informed by the supervisor that on which specific subject she will be conducting her study. Some institutes admit students without giving a specific problem beforehand and student get stuck/ confused with subjects of a little or no importance. Most of this case, student conduct insignificant work and later her career end up, for example to say, as a lecturer in some institution, without doing any progressive research work. If your daughter really wants to be a great scientist, she may follow the following tips. Try to visit websites of good institute for Microbiology not only in India but around the globe and get to know the research problems they are working on. Just for an example, see this link (http://web.mit.edu/microbiology/micro_at.html). If it is interesting, write to the concerned person about her interest in research with her detailed CV ( write the CV as per the research interest of the concerned person). He may contact her back, for sure, if her CV succeeded to impress the person. Sometimes, she may asked to clear entrance exams ( for example, UGC exam in India) for securing scholarship during her study. For selecting a specific problem for PhD, it solely depend on the supervisor and funding agency, or in some rare case on the student herself. However, she must know the future aspects of the subject under study. Write to us for more information. Sincerely |
