Q | My child,of 7.25 year, weighs around 17 kg.Despite regular check-up to many doctors,he isn't showing weight gain as per his age.Child is normal and active thereby doctors says nothing to worry.But we are very concerned with regard to his under-weight.Plz answer our concern and suggest some best doctors in the field to consult further,preferabley in north and west india | |

1 | As many doctors have already told you heights and weights of children depends on many factors. Genetics may play a major role in this. Environment and activity may also play a part. Your child falls at the lower end of the range in weight.Is his height normal? Your doctor may be able to plot a graph and tell you the percentile of the general population which he belongs to.If your child is active and his developmental milestones are ok i would not be too concerned.
