Pollachi

Known for its Jaggery and cattle market, the Pollachi town is located 40 km south of Coimbatore on the way to Parambikulam-Aliyar project. It is a favourite location spot of the south indian movie makers. As it is near the Western ghars, the town has a pleasant climate throughout the year. Earlier known as 'Polil Aichi' which means 'the land of natural wealth and prosperity', the name has gradually changed to Pollachi. Pollachi is an important commercial area and it exports coconuts and tender-coconuts to all over India.

Anamalai wildlife Sanctuary, Top slip, Chinnakallar, Valparai, Parambikulam National Park are some of the tourist spots that attract tourists to Pollachi. 700 years old Subramania Swamy Thirukoil temple built by  Konga Cholas is located here. There are beautiful stone carvings like a five hooded serpent, a Yali with a chain from its mouth and carved zodiacal signs in the Subramanya temple.
