Jaswant Thada, situated near to Mehrangarh fort (around 7kms from Jodhpur city) is considered as a traditional cremation ground of Jodhpur rulers. This monument was built in 1899 by Maharaja Sardar in memory of his father Maharaja Jaswant Singh II (the 33rd Rathore ruler of Jodhpur). The white marble cenotaph of the Maharaja, constructed like a temple is a fine example of Rajputana style of architecture housing ornamented sculptures, friezes, domes and pillars. Within this cenotaph, there are two more tombs. Besides this main memorial, the complex three other cenotaphs of Jodhpur ruler. 

Other added attractions of Jaswant Thada is the beautiful portraits of the former rulers of Jodhpur in its interiors and the attractive marble latticeworks. The complex also houses an exquisitely carved gazebos, a beautiful multi-tiered garden and a small lake. Entry to Jaswant Thada is free and it opens daily from 8AM to 1800PM.
