Cities & Towns Rajasthan Jodhpur Destination Getaways Pali Town
Pali Town is situated in the Marwar region, 72kms south east of Jodhpur, on the bank of river Bandi. This industrial city, formerly known as Pallika and Palli, is the administrative headquarters of Pali District. Once this area was inhabited by Paliwal Brahmins who were considered as priests and the place derived its name after them. The land of Pali was leased to the Paliwalis by the then chief of Mandore. But after getting the leased land, they cultivated it diligently, abandoning their former priestly profession. Major tourist destinations in Pali are Bangur Museum, Lakhotia Garden, Maharana Pratap Smarak, Somnath temple devoted to Lord Shiva, Naulakha Jain temple etc. |
