Kavil Bhagavathy Temple

The ancient shrine of Kavil Bhagavathy is situated at Changanacherry  near the Munsif Court, 18 km from Kottayam. Also known as Kavil Ambalam and Sree Bhagavathi Temple, the temple is believed to be constructed by one of the Thekkumkoor Maharajas. The unique annual temple festival, Kavil chirappu is celebrated during December - January. The temple participates in the procession of the Puthenpalli Chandanakudam celebration, which commences from an old Muslim mosque at Puthoor.
