Fort Kochi Beach, one among the finest beaches in Kerala which can be easily identified by the presence of the Chinese fishing nets is located around 13kms from Ernakulam city. Nestled amidst coconut tress, green bushes and softly lashing seawaters, the Fort Kochi beach with its tranquil atmosphere is a favorite haunt of both local and tourists. The beach is dotted with colonial buildings and the ruins of the first European fort, Fort Immanuel, built by the Portuguese in 1503 A.D. Onshore sea food stalls, Vasco da Gama Square, walkway are the other attractions nearby.

Numerous restaurants and eating joints dotting the edges of the Fort Cochin beach provide the perfect option to those who want to grab a quick bite.  It would be a memorable experience to stroll along the beach, particularly at sunset with the chinese fishing nets and sailing ships in the background.

Fort Kochi Beach is the venue of a colourful celebration 'Cochin Carnival' held during the last week of December. New Year eve attracts thousands of foreign and local tourists from all around the world. On that day, a gorgeous santa clause built in beach will be fired in ash in regrettance of the past year whether good or bad and welcoming the new fresh year.
