The Karwar bay, apart from its scenic beauty, also boasts of an excellent harbour which is fit for use during all seasons. Karwar port with a total length of 355 meters, located at Baithkul area plays an important role in the sea trade, fishing and maritime services of India. The port under the administration of the Government of Karnataka has the declaration from the Central Government to handle all types of cargo including the B&C class of petroleum products. Manganese ore is the major commodity that the port handles. A fishing jetty is attached to the Karwar port.
