Cambay

Cambay is the old seaport of Ahmedabad, 92 km to the south-west located at the northern end of the Gulf of Cambay. It was an important port and trading centre during the Mughal era. The decline of Cambay started with the development of Surat and eventually it faded into history. Before the British arrived, Dutch and Portuguese factories were established here. From Ahmedabad, it is a 3 hour bus journey to Cambay.
