Kalpathy Viswanathaswamy TempleKalpathy Viswanathaswamy Temple
Built in 1425 A.D by the Raja of Palakkad Kombi Achan, Kalpathy Viswanathaswamy temple is the oldest Shiva Temple in Malabar. The temple also known as Kasiyil Pakuthi Kalpathy, situated on the bank of river Neela Bhagirathi resembles the Banaras temple on the banks of the Ganges. The temple is around 3 kms from Palakkad. Apart from the main deity of Viswanadhaswamy, there are several other deities consecrated in the temple which includes Subrahmanyaswamy, Nataraja, Vinayaka, Dakshinayana Murthy, Nandeeswaran etc. 

The temple rituals are performed by the Tamil Brahmins which were earlier conducted by Kerala Brahmins. The annual chariot festival known as Kalpathy Ratholsavam is associated with this temple.

Chittur Kavu Bhagavathy Temple
Chittur Kavu Bhagavathy Temple is located 10 km south-east of Palakkad. The presiding deity here is the Bhagavathy. An annual unique festival known as Chittur Konganpada is celebrated here with great historical significance.

Manappullikkavu Bhagavathy Temple
The 1200 years old, Manappullikkavu Bhagavathy Temple is dedicated to Mother Goddess 'Manapulli Bhagavathy'. By way of rites and rituals, this temple is different from other Bhagavathy and daily rituals are performed according to tantric traditions by the Kerala Brahmins, i.e the Namboodiries. Both Saiva and Vaishnava traditions are observed in the poojas. Every year, an annual festival called Manappullikavu Vela is held here.

Jain Temple
Also known as Chandranatha Temple, Jain temple at Jainmedu is one of few existing Jain temples in Kerala. The 2000 years old impressive, silent monument overhung with trees is situated on the shores of the Kalpathy River in Vadakkanthara. The 32 feet long and 20 feet wide granite temple consists of four divisions. These four divisions displays the idols of Chandranathan, Vijayalakshmi & Jwalamohini, Rishabha Nathan and Parswa Nathan & Padmavathi.

 

Kunnathurmedu Sreekrishna Temple
Kunnathurmedu Sreekrishna Temple, the only Sreekrishna Temple in Palakkad, is located at the heart of the town. The main attraction is the beautiful idol of Sreekrishna as a child. Ashtami Rohini (Sreekrishna Jayanthi) is the main festival here which is celebrated with great zeal.
