Hi Jeevitha,
Nice to know about your studies and your interest in projects related to environment and agriculture. There are a lot of institutions and PSUs working in the field of environmental biotechnology. One of them is Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology in Trivandrum. You may visit their website to see the on going projects on plant disease biotech research. Environmental biotechnology institutions are also there, where you can find good projects on treatment of waste water or surface water using microorganisms or more advanced subjects. National Agri-Food Biotechnology Institute in Mohali is another good centre where you can look for a project. It may be worth looking at the Department of Biotechnology web page of Government of India (http://dbtindia.nic.in/uniquepage.asp?id_pk=29).

I would suggest you to go through research papers related to your subject and select some specific subjects where you would like to do a project. Then find out the best place where you can work on such projects, and contact them directly. You may directly contact faculty members who work on your subject of interest. Most of them are good enough to reply you either with their interests in projects or suggestions for you.

All the best,
Suresh
