Microbiology is a basic subject which is a sub section of biology. It deals with the life cycles and behaviour of microbes (bacteria/fungi etc.). Biotechnology is a wider subject and covers most of the microbiology in it. Some easily understandable examples from biotech are mutation, breeding and cloning. Development of vaccines is a microbiological application in biotechnology.
Although it is not quite clear what you meant by the word "scope" in your question, I take that you meant job perspective. Both microbiology and biotechnology has their own advantages. A biotech graduate can find a job in the field of microbiology and vice versa. It all depends on your basic understanding and interest which branch you have to select. You may have noted my previous comment that microbiology is a subject of study in biotech courses.
With a BSc degree, the higher education line is then an MSc and a PhD. With a BTech degree, the next step is an MTech degree and then PhD. Most of the BSc courses are of 3 years or equivalent, whereas a BTech course is generally of 4 years or equivalent. A Tech degree is considered as a professional qualification and the holders may find it easy to find a job. Graduate capabilities and graduate outcomes of the courses (available with the course prospects: if not, ask for it) really matter and you should compare both of these for the BSc and BTech courses before making a decision.
All the best.
