Most institutes do not offer courses in Genetic Engineering as a special discipline but as a subsidiary in biotechnology, microbiology, biochemistry streams. Genetics is offered at the undergraduate level, at Kakatiya University, Warangal and Osmania University, Hyderabad, both in Andhra Pradesh. You didn't specify the stream which you have taken in Graduation. Any way if you are not taken genetic science/biology, chemistry, and biochemistry in your graduation and if you are interested in genetic science the other option is that you should pursue post graduation in biology, chemistry, and biochemistry which are the popular streams for those interested in genetics careers. There are many opportunities in basic and clinical research, in medical professions, and in interdisciplinary fields, such as patent law for genetics graduates. |
