The Himalayas are the most magnanimous and awe striking creations of the earth.
As trekkers, we have had a chance to climb these tall standing beauties and be
witnesses to this bounty of nature. Although most of the parts of the Himalayas
have unparalleled beauty, some of the trails are so mesmerizing that they leave
you speechless.
If you ask a trekker to list the most beautiful and magnificent Himalayan treks,
one name you will surely find on the list will be of the Rupin Pass Trek.
Last year I did Rupin Pass Trek with Bikat Adventures. Their small batch size
and good trek leaders make the entire experience better. We learned to pitch our
tents and had the most amazing time celebrating the beauty of our surroundings.
I made so many new friends for life on the trail.
Here you can check
Rupin Pass trek details.
The Rupin Pass Trek is one of those treks which gives you a chance to walk from
one state to another, can you imagine that? You start walking from a quaint
little village called Dhaula in Uttarakhand and land in Sangla village of
Himachal Pradesh.
These two Himalayan states are already praised and known for their charming
views and their popular tourist spots. So you can see the bigger picture here.
Walking on the trail between these two states is sure a treat for any trekker.
The Rupin Pass trek is an 8-day trek and the distance covered in these days is
approximately 52 km. As you start from Dhaula village, you witness the most
marvelous views of the Himalayas, surrounded by the lush green trees and grass.
The campsites of the Rupin Pass trek are to die for. As you progress during the
trek, you camp at several beautiful locations such as Saruwas Thatch, Dhanderas
Thatch, Ronti Gad and Upper Waterfall campsite. Trust me, the beauty of these
campsites will blow your mind away.
As you move ahead from the Upper waterfall campsite, you will see the tree line
disappearing and jagged mountains welcoming you into a very different landscape.
The sudden transformation from the green meadows to the barren lands is also
quite an experience for the trekkers.
As you traverse from the Ronti Gas campsite, you reach the saddle shape Rupin
Pass. This pass gives you a 360-degree view of the Himalayas. Look as far as
your eyes can see, the only thing that will match your eyes will be tall
Himalayan peaks touching the sky and piercing the clouds above them.
During this trek, there will not be a single day when the beauty of your
surroundings will not leave you wondering. The mountains put on a show of
perfection, just for you.
Another major highlight of the Rupin Pass trek which deserves a special mention
is the three-tier waterfall that you will be able to see right in front of you.
The gushing waters of the waterfall produce a sound which soothes your ears and
the views of this waterfall are like a treatment for the eyes.
After spending days on the trail, the final reward of having fresh snow beneath
your feet makes you jump in excitement. You will be surrounded by a thick sheet
of white sparkling snow all around you. The trek is a complete experience and
you get to visit all kinds of Himalayan landscapes and a waterfall like never
before.
On the trail of this trek, you will also get a chance to see the best flora and
fauna of the Himalayas. From purple Rhododendron to the blissfully green and
full of life meadows - you will be sitting in natures lap.
This stunning crossover trek is one of the best out of the few crossover treks
in the Himalayas.
Just as you cross the pass, you may think that the return journey will be
tedious and boring, as they always are. But the Rupin Pass trek has yet another
surprise saved for you. The trail offers you stunning views of the Kinnaur
Kailash ranges and the relief of being in the green meadows again is quite a
refreshing.
I am sure you are convinced about the grandeur of this great trek. Here are some
vital stats to help you plan the trek for the upcoming season.
The beauty of the Rupin Pass trek is unmatched and many trekkers have the trek
on their bucket list. This trek is of moderate difficulty level and the maximum
altitude gained during the 8 days is of 15,197 feet. You should plan to do the
trek in the months of May to June and September to October to enjoy the best of
this trek, as the flora and fauna of the trek is blossoming during this season.
As this is a moderate level trek, you should have completed at least 2 Himalayan
treks already. The altitude gained during this trek is quite a lot and
experience is required to complete the trek.
There is nothing like waking up to a great view with the sound of the birds
chirping, and the Rupin Pass trek gives you a chance to experience all these
little marvels of nature in the 8 days that you spend on the trail.
So, this upcoming season, get your boss to approve your leaves and head straight
to the trails. Give your mind, body, and soul a chance to rejuvenate. The
surprise-packed trail will surely calm that worked up brain and body. There is
no better remedy than the clean air and the beautiful sky above your head away
from the humdrum of daily life.
