Following their homecoming on Thursday, the T20 World Cup winning Indian team celebrated their win in style with their legion of fans in a victory parade from Marine Drive to the iconic Wankhede Stadium, where a grand felicitation event was held later. Let us revisit some of the most iconic moments of the festivities in Mumbai.
Marine Drive filled up with thousand of fans
Argentina football fans crowded the streets following the Lionel Messi-led side's FIFA World Cup win in 2022, and Indian fans wanted to replicate the same for Men in Blue after the the 50-over World Cup in 2023. However, after the heartbreak of that final loss to Australia, Indian cricket fans thronged the Marine Drive in thousands for an era-defining picture.

Star players Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Mohammed Siraj, Rishabh Pant, Jasprit Bumrah, etc were thrilled by the sight of fans, who had gathered at Marine Drive in numbers. Players lifted the trophy together in front of an extremely proud and passionate Mumbai crowd.

They got a perfect farewell from T20Is, holding the title together in front of a packed Marine Drive.

A redemption story for ages
Booed out of the Wankhede and basically every other stadium during the IPL for taking over Rohit Sharma's post of Mumbai Indians (MI) captain and a victim of online fanwars, Hardik Pandya had a redemption to remember. He delivered fine all-round performances during the World Cup and returned to Wankhede as a world champion, and a hero, with crowds chanting his name.

Ever since the days of Kapil Dev, the Indian fans awaited the sight of a fast bowler who would become the main character of Team India's biggest wins. In 2024, Jasprit Bumrah has become that hero. Virat gets perfect farewell from T20Is
Once left heartbroken at the same ground during 2016 T20 World Cup semifinals against the West Indies, Virat's career took a turn for good as he returned to Wankhede as a T20 World Cup champion, a title that he got to earn only after four brilliant campaigns, including one-man-army efforts in 2014 and 2016 and a memorable knock of 76 runs in the 2024 final after managing just 75 runs in the first seven innings.
