Southern Naval Command Celebrates 67th Republic Day

Southern Naval Command celebrated the 67thRepublic Day of the Nation with a Ceremonial Parade reviewed by Vice Admiral Sunil Lanba, PVSM, AVSM, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Naval Command. The Admiral paid floral tributes to the martyrs at the War Memorial prior to arriving on Parade.

 

24 Platoons including 6 Armed Platoons and a DSC platoon participated the Parade during which the President's Colours was paraded accompanied by a 50 men Guard. The Parade was commanded by Commander Vilas Gurav. The Parade was accompanied by the Southern Naval Command band playing stirring martial music. Vice Admiral Lanba, while addressing the parade urged everyone at the Southern Naval Command to rededicate themselves towards training so as to become professionals and discharge their duties towards the nation.

 

The award of distinguished service medals to three officers of the Southern Naval Command by the President of India was also announced by the Government on the occasion of Republic day, which included Vishisht Seva medal (VSM) to Commodore P Suresh, Commanding Officer of INS Venduruthy and Nau Sena Medal (NM) for devotion to duty to Capt Rahul Shankar and Captain Sumeet Kapoor of Indian Naval Academy (INA) at Ezhimala.
