Udaipur

Udaipur - the 'City of lakes' is a remarkable center of Mewar Kingdom and the administrative headquarters of Udaipur district. The city hailed as the 'Venice of the East' set amidst the Aravalli hills of South Rajasthan, is one of the most romantic destinations in India. The city has planned gardens and island palaces on artificial lakes. It was founded by Maharana Udai Singh in mid-16th century. Situated on the banks of lake Pichola, the city is sometimes known as white city because of its numerous white marble palaces reflecting in the lake's calm waters. The best time to visit Udaipur is from September to March.
