Mani Ratnam, the eminent film maker once again scores.

In "Guru", Ratnam once more succeeds in raising the artistic standards and churns out another masterpiece on the realistic line. Apparently inspired by the life and time of industrialist Dhirubhai Ambani, the late founder of the Reliance group, 'Guru' earned both public appreciation and box-office revenues. Everything in the movie is perfect, right from cinematography by Rajiv Menon, art direction, Anurag Kashyap's curt and crisp dialogues, sound design to music, solid performances and Ratnam's full control over the narration. It boasts one of the best performances by lead man Abhishek Bachchan.

The movie also could have benefited with the public curiosity over its lead pair Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai who had announced their engagement in real life by then.
