Actress Saranya Bhagyaraj, daughter of the star couple Bhagyaraj and Poornima Bhagyaraj allegedly attempted suicide late Monday night, by consuming poison. She was later admitted to a private hospital in Adyar, where she is undergoing treatment.

The reason for this has been said to be due to a failed relationship. Sources add that, the 23-year-old actress had been mentally disturbed after her relationship with a young businessman broke up. It is also said that Saranya, was involved with him for the past year. But her family maintains that it was not a suicide attempt.

Sharanya started her film career with the film Paarijatham opposite Prithiviraj which was directed by her director father Bhagyaraj.
