Vaastu Shastra
Cast
: JD Chakravarthy, Sushmita Sen, Ahsaas Channa
Director
: Saurabh Narang
Music
: Amar
Producer
: Ram Gopal Varma

The movie loosely based on scary Hollywood flicks like 'The Shining'( Jack Nicholson) and 'The others' ( starring Nicole Kidman) is a horror by director Saurabh Narang and produced by Ram Gopal Varma.

Virag ( JD Chakravarthy ) is a writer and his wife Jhilmil (Sushmita Sen ) is a doctor. Both of them are working and living in Pune and has a son Rohan (Ahsaas Channa). Jhilmil's younger sister, Radhika [Peeya Rai Choudhuri], also lives with them. The family shifts to Shanti Kutir at the outskirts of Pune for some peace and quiet for Virag to complete his new novel.

The house they shift to, turns out to be weird as Rohan finds out while exploring the place. Though nobody believes him at first when the child tries to explain the strange occurrences, they are forced to when people begin to loose lives. Their servant maid (Rasika Joshi), Radhika and her boyfriend Murali ( Purab Kohli) gets murdered. The police officer (Sayaji Shinde) investigating the case believes that a serial killer is behind the murders. But is it so...or is some other evil lurking behind???

The director has succeeded in creating an eerie atmosphere with some startling sequences that will keep you at the edge of your seats. Technically the film is far ahead- sound, lighting and cinematography are superb. But the film is not without potholes with a not so good script which drags at times and a shoddy ending which may not sink well with the audience. Performances are good, especially young Ahsaas Channa has done his role really well and Sushmita Sen leaves an impact with one of the best roles in her career. Peeya Rai Chaudhary is impressive.

Overall the movie may fare well with audience who like this genre.
