Gayab the second film directed by Prawaal Raman after 'Darna Mana Hai' is about the life of a very ordinary man who gets a strange power...

Vishnu Prasad (Tusshar Kapoor) is a loser in all sense.. a complex personality who feels neglected and unwanted by everyone. His family background develops him into such a personality. His ever nagging mother ( Rasika Joshi) finds pleasure in putting him down at every opportunity. His father, (Raghuveer Yadav) a hen pecked husband takes it all in without responding.

Vishnu is clumsy to the core, he can't get anything right and is ridiculed by everyone. The girl of his dreams is Mohini (Antara Mali), his next door neighbour. Mohini doesn't even realise that he exists and has a boyfriend. One day, Vishnu accidentally winks at her, and fearing her boyfriend would humiliate him in front of everyone, he heads off to a beach and laments that he be made invisible and behold he actually becomes invisible. Although at first he hates the idea of being invisible, he starts to get back at all those who have hurt him with his newfound power.

The film starts off well with a novel theme having great scope for development. But the direction and screenplay goes haywire after the first half. Instead of becoming interesting, the 'gayab' aspect of it is not given much impact as it should have been. Gayab has its moments especially the initial sequences and is funny at times but the director fails to keep up the show.

Tushhar Kapoor portrays Vishnu's vulnerable, clumsy character very well. Antara Mali is no good, and does an exaggerated act at times. Rasika Joshi is good but tends to go overboard at times.

Overall the film is just average.
