Technically the film is perfect with the director giving attention
to every small detail. Dwarak Warrier's sound effects, Salim-Sulaiman's
background score, Vishal Sinha's cinematography all contributes profoundly
to built the mood of the film. After the initial interesting build up,
the narrative suffers- becomes predictable especially after the first
half and fails to maintain the mood and ends in a disappointing climax.
Varma should have paid more attention to the script as well.
The cast includes veterans like Rekha as a psychic, Tanuja as Manjeet's
(ghost) mother, Victor Banerjee as the psychiatrist struggling with
his own personal tragedy and Nana Patekar as the cop who investigates
the murder that takes place, Seema Biswas as the servant and Fardeen
Khan as the neighbour. Ajay Devgan is impressive as the caring but helpless
husband but it is Urmila who steals the show with her mind blowing performance.
She portrays the character's helplessness and the obsessive state when
she is possessed with amazing excellence.
Overall the film is worth watching for its technical excellence and
Urmila's performance.. It is a new attempt worth appreciating.
