Aks (which means reflection) directed by Rakesh Omprakesh Mehra is a story of a human turned into a ghost.

Manu Verma (Ambitha Bachan) is a senior cop who is entrusted with the duty to safe guard the Indian Defence Minister (Amol Palekar). on his way for a visit to Budapest (Hungary). Unfortunately, the Defence Minister was killed by a Psychotic killer Raghavan (Manoj Bajpai) who walks away with a floppy that contains vital details of a plot to assassinate the Prime Minister. Though Manu, the sincere and vigil officer, fails to do his assigned job, he manages to arrest Raghavan, in a marine encounte

He tries to force Raghavan to divulge the details of the floppy, but the killer remains mum. Raghavan is sentenced to death. On the day of his hanging, he attempts to escape. Manu and Raghavan shoot at each other but miraculously Manu survives.

Unfortunately, Raghavan's soul starts haunting Manu's body. It turns Manu into a cop with an evil streak. Manu kills people in cold blood, due to the influence of Raghavan's soul in him, and enjoys it. Supriya (Nandita Das), Manu's wife notices the change in her ‘husband’. How Manu returns to normalcy is something to see...

Nita (Raveena Tandon) is a girlfriend of Raghavan. She is a club dancer, a sensual woman who does as she pleases. Her dance to the song ‘Yeh Raat’ is something that will leave her fans wanting more. Mahadevan (K.K. Raina) Raghavan's brother, who is a merciless psycho is the evil influence behind him.

The performance by Amitabh Bachchan is amazing. He plays the dual role of a human and a person overtaken by a ghost well. Manoj Bajpai also does a tremendous job with his unique look and style. Nandita Das as Amitabh Bachchan's wife has not been given  enough chance to show her talent.

Anu Malik's music is rated 'A'. The songs, especially 'Yeh raat', 'Aaja gufaaon mein' are very impressive. Gulzar's lyrics in 'Aaja gunaah kar le', a hell song for Bachan is good. Action scene's come alive with Kiran Deohan's excellent camera work.Ranjit Barot's background score is very competent.
