Vanilla Sky
Cast
: Tom Cruise, Penelope Cruz, Cameron Diaz, Kurt Russell
Director
: Cameron Crowe
Written by
: Alejandro Amenabar, Cameron Crowe, Mateo Gil

David Aames (Tom Cruise) is the man who has it all: good looks, a good job, the best of what life has to offer. He has inherited wealth from his deceased father and a swarm of women, including Julie Gianni (Cameron Diaz) a woman who has more than a little crush on him. Then David runs into Sofia(Penelope Cruz) one night and experiences the night of his life.
After this amazing night, he makes the mistake of getting into a car with Julie, to straighten thing out, of course and his life heads for disaster. Not only does David have an accident which leaves him disfigured, but he is also accused of murder, leaving him to question whether he is living in a dream or reality.

Vanilla Sky is a remake of the Spanish film, Abre Los Ojos, or Open Your Eyes. In this version, Cruise plays a decent role of David Aames as being a rich playboy, but once Aames life turns for the worst, so does Cruise’s acting. His partner in crime, Penelope Cruz, is a true beauty of the silver screen but unfortunately her beauty is not matched with passion, at least not in English. Her true passion is shown only through her native tongue of Spanish, which is seen in brief glimpse of the film. Cameron Diaz plays a decent stalker, but her minutes in the spotlight are numbered in this film.

Overall, the plot is a thriller and enjoyable to watch, even leaving you questioning reality and fiction.

In all, we rate it as fair.
