The Big Question

A documentary that deals with the complex questions about spirituality and the presence of God in everyday life.

The film is made up of interviews with various people including some of the cast members of "The Passion Of The Christ", notably Jim Caviezel, Monica Bellucci and Mel Gibson. The participants are asked questions about God and the meaning of life on Earth as well as after death. They are randomly asked questions like "Who is God to you?" or "what happens after life?" or "Does God exist?" or "Do you pray ?".

The interviews are short, and different people gives different answers, some of them strong and some vague. Mel Gibson on his part says that he could have been insane without a religion and trust in God.

The directors Francesco Cabras and Alberto Molinari venture to make a film with a deep theological and philosophical subjects. Many a times these topics are beyond the apprehension of the common people without much background on these subjects. They have successfully assembled a variety of people from different facets of life as well as many locals from Matera in Southern Italy. They have tried to make the film entertaining by enhancing the interviews with actors in costumes.

The interviewees give their honest opinion and Mel Gibson himself is very frank about his religious beliefs.

The movie widely investigates a universal spiritual issue. It doesn't matter what religion you practice, it can be Christianism or Buddhism or Judaism or Hinduism or Islam or you can be an atheist, the film has something for each and everyone, to find an answer to certain questions. But in the end everything boils down to just like the old masters said "Trust in God and the rest is assured" or more likely "Trust in God and do right".

We rate this movie GOOD.
