Based on the 1980's TV show, the Dukes of Hazzard is a comedy that deals with
Duke cousins who are trying to save their family farm from being taken over by a
corrupt county official.
The story is set in Georgia where the Duke cousins Bo (Seann William) and
Luke (Johnny Knoxville) Duke, leads an adventures life. They deliver moonshine
for their Uncle Jesse (Willie Nelson). They also have a beautiful cousin Daisy
(Jessica Simpson) who works at a local watering hole named The Boars Nest.
The Duke boys love cars and they have an orange custom made 1969 Dodge
Charger named General Lee. When the boys don't work they take a joyride
in their car as well as spend time at The Boars Nest. The Duke boys
have their own share of enemies. One of them being Boss Hogg (Burt Reynolds),
the corrupt official of Hazzard County. Hogg together with the County
Sheriff Rosco Coletrane had been harassing the Duke boys on and off.
Now Hogg wants to seize properties and strip mine the county. He definitely
wants to take over Duke family farm at any cost.
Duke boys tried
to influence Hogg through their sexy cousin Daisy, but it didn't work
the way they expected. Now they have to stand up against the powerful
Hogg in order to save their family farm. Find out how these bold youngsters
are going to handle this problem.
Director Jay Chandrasekhar tries to narrate a lifeless comic story with some
grace. It seems like he is trying to please high school going teenagers by
presenting car jumps as well as sexy Jessica Simpson in hot pants. The story
looks dumb and lifeless. He tries to put some humor into this silly film, but
the jokes are boring. He tries to recreate the feel of the old TV show at the
best he can.
Shorts clad Jessica Simpson presents a mediocre performance but she brings
some laughs into the film. Basically, sexy Jessica is the major attraction of
the film. Lack of chemistry among the other cast members make it hard for the
audience to enjoy the film. If you like endless car chases and watch beautiful
Jessica, it is worth watching. This is not the worst film of the year but it is
pretty silly and dumb.
We rate this movie BELOW AVERAGE.
