Along came a spider

Director
: Lee Tamahori
Rating
: Rated R for violence and language
Producer

This is yet another best selling thriller novel by James Paterson after 'Kiss the Girls', made into a film, with Morgan Freeman playing again the role of Dr. Alex Cross, a forensic psychologist.

The story takes place in Washington DC where Dr. Cross is drawn into solving the kidnapping of a senator’s daughter from an elite private school by Gary Soneji (Michael Wincott). Soneji conducts this kidnapping in an imitation of the infamous Lindbergh kidnapping of the early 1920s and does it in hopes of making history, literally.

With the assistance of Secret Service agent, Jezzie Flannigan (Monica Potter) Cross helps analyze this sociopath, which leads them both to take many interesting twists and turns with an unexpected ending.

The plus points of the film include great acting by Freeman and the wonderful storyline, as always by Patterson. Downfalls include the not-so-believable and unnecessary special effects.

Even though the special effects can be categorized under mediocre and the storyline can be deemed to be a bit on the unrealistic side, the film is viewable and gets a rating of fair.

If you find this film better than fair, you will enjoy its predecessor, 'Kiss the Girls', a far better film.
