Based on the celebrated graphic, violent crime novel
series by Frank Miller, Sin City deals with misfit heroes seeking redemption
by rescuing women in distress.
"Sin City" has three stories adopted from three books
from Frank Miller series set in fictional town called Sin City. The
first story is about Marv (Mickey Rourke), a facially scarred guy who
had a one night stand of love and passion with a beautiful girl, Goldie
(Jamie King). But she is murdered on the same night and Marv sets out
to find the person responsible which leads him to Kevin (Elijah ) a
serial killer who killed women and ate their body.
The second story deals with Dwight (Clive Owen) a former
killer who changed the look of his face with plastic surgery and lives
with his girlfriend Shellie (Brittany Murphy). He protects the local
hookers from tough Jackie (Benicio Del Toro) and his men.
The
third story features Bruce Willis as a good cop John Hartigan who rescue
a little girl Nancy Callahan from a brutal child molester named Junior
(Nick Stahl). But Hartigan was framed for the crime and sent to jail.
He kept in touch with Nancy and when he got out of jail he went looking
for her. To his surprise, he finds out that Nancy (Jessica Alba) is
working as an exotic dancer. Find out what will happen to Nancy and
if Hartigan can save her life.
Director Robert Rodriguez has successfully translated
the novels to the screen as literally as possible. He has used blood
red colour and black and white images to accomplish his goal. It has
great lines, great action as well as nudity and violence. Stylish visuals
and innovations make the novels live and well on the screen.
Bruce Willis as Hartigan presents an excellent performance.
He portray the toughness of a cop, at the same time he has a soft heart.
Mickey Rourke's performance is quite phenomenal. All star cast like
Nick Stahl, Jessica Alba and Brittany Murphy are good. The plots are
filled with serial killers, child molesters, prostitutes and corrupt
politicians. Sometimes the storylines are overlapping but if you like
the novel you will love this film. The film is definitely a labor of
love.
We rate this movie GOOD.
