Based on a video game series of the same name, it is the story of a mother, disturbed by
her daughter's mysterious disease, venture into Silent Hill to find the secrets.
Rose (Radha Mitchell) and her husband Christopher (Sean Bean) and their adopted daughter
Sharon (Jodelle Ferland) lead the life of a typical American family. But Sharon is suffering
from a mysterious disease. She is a sleepwalker and she murmurs the name of a place while in her
sleep. Rose and Christopher are very much disturbed by this situation and they really don't
know what to do. Christopher is inclined towards medications while Rose wants to
follow her instinct.
Rose googled 'Silent Hill' and found out that it is an abandoned mining town in West
Virginia. As a matter of fact it is a ghost town. As Rose and her daughter travel to
Silent Hill in search of answers for her daughter's disease, they get involved in an auto
accident. Rose became unconscious and when she woke up, Sharon was no where to
be seen. This situation sends Rose on a wild chase through the streets of the ghost
town, in search of her daughter. She also has to face the wrath of a witch hunting religious
group. Find out more about the fate of Rose and Sharon.

Director Christophe Gans narrates a horror tale skillfully. He has been faithful to the original
game and recreates every plot in the film with great detail. His direction is good and many of
the shots are really good, especially the last few minutes. The settings are great and the visual effects
are good.
Radha Mitchell as Rose, puts up a decent performance. She very well
portray the anxiety of a disturbed mother while showing the courage
to follow her instinct. She shows abiding strength of her maternal love. Sean Bean is okay with his role while Jodelle Ferland can be classified as another creepy horror movie kid.
Even though the story is predictable and some of the plots are confusing, as a whole the film will keep you on edge and make you wonder what is going to happen next. There are many intense scenes and the horror fans
will love it. As a video game adaptation it should thrill many of the video game
fans too.
We rate this movie ABOVE AVERAGE.
