It is the story of a society, an animated adventure of a young robot with great plans for the future.

Rodney Copperbottom (Voiced by Ewan McGregor) is from a poor family and lives with his father Herb (Stanley Tucci), a dishwasher, and his mother (Dianne Wiest). They all live in Rivet Town. They are so poor that their body parts are upgraded with hands me downs parts from other people.

Rodney always had a dream, be an inventor and make the world a better place to live. He was a robot with a plan. He wants to work for Mr.Big Weld (Mel Brooks) in the Robot City. He is sure that one of his inventions can be marketed by Big Weld's big conglomerate.

One day Rodney leaves home to meet Mr.Big Weld. When he gets to Big Weld's headquarters, he realizes that Ratchet (Greg Kinnear) and his evil mother Madame Gasket (Jim Broad Bent) controls the industry by forcing out Mr.Big Weld to a semi retirement. Ratchet also plans to stop manufacturing spare parts and will only manufacture upgrades for the future robots. During his visit to Robot City, Rodney meets a beautiful executive (Halle Berry) and falls for her. Rodney joins forces with a group of robots to fight Ratchet and restore fairness in the industry.

Director Chris Wedge masterfully narrates a clever story with creative bits. The animation is excellent and the movie one -liners are funny. The movie is highly entertaining with an all star cast and stunning CG effects that is breathtaking. The movie is ideal for the kids ages 7 to 10.

Robin Williams as Fender, an aimless robot who befriends Rodney, is very good. The voice cast features five Oscar winners Mel Brooks, Dianne Wiest, Jim Broad Bent, Halle Berry and Robin Williams. The rest of the casts are also good. It is a sweetly subversive movie with a good story, with imaginative actions and poignant moments. It has an innocent theme with colorful, charming and vibrant characters. Overall it good and the kids will like it more than the adults.

We rate this movie GOOD.
