Based on real events, it is a teen comedy about a group of high school students in Southern California.
The movie is set in a Southern California suburb. In the Booker High School,
Holden Donovan (Gregory Smith) who is a rebel, is fed up with principal
Weller (Julie Bowen) who controls every activity of the students with
tight fist. She suspends a girl for taping condoms to her dress to promote
safe sex. She also suspends two boys who were kissing in the hallway.
Principal Weller has her own agenda like running for the Superintendent
of the school
district.
Holden teams up with his classmates and decides to start a rebellion against
the principal. He lines up a gang of students like his new girlfriend
Charlotte (Stephanie Sherrin), cheerleader Katie (Caitlin Wachs), the
geek Emily (Emy Coligado) and a gay guy Lawrence (Alex Anfanger). They
also got the support of one of their teachers Mr. DrUcker (Malik Yoba)
who encouraged them to fight for justice.

Soon, they
organize a student body to take action against Weller and make changes
in the school system. But the situation in the school turned out to be
a state of anarchy and Mr. Drucker gets fired by the principal for his
part in helping the students. The students tackles issues like sex education,
freedom of speech, and controversial matters like kissing in public and
homosexuality. But towards the end everything winds down and the whole
mess gets cleared.
Director Josh Stolberg boldly narrates a tale of teen cause and gives an inside view of the American school
system. The film deals with the injustice and abuses in the school system. He interviews many students to get first hand information
about their grievances. He deals with the real world and real kids. He has assembled a
good looking, impressive cast.
The cast as a whole is good. Well known Nicole Richie makes her feature acting debut through this
film. Most of the cast members are new to acting in films but some of them show that they have a
real talent in the field.
The movie is based on real life experience of some students. Many high
school students are usually depicted as sex maniacs and drug addicts and
most of the time their side of the story is not revealed. This film definitely
gives an insight into the real life of some of the real students.
Movie has bad language and sexual content, but as a whole it has some
entertainment value.
We rate this movie as AVERAGE.
