Historical as well as mythological 'King Arthur' is the real story of a Roman Warrior who became a legend. Back in the Dark Ages, Arthur (Clive Owen) was the Roman commander of Sarmatian Knights, who served the Roman Empire for 15 years. After their term, Roman troops were ready and waiting to return to Rome.

Just before they were about to leave, Arthur and his knights were ordered to rescue a young Roman who is a favorite of the Pope and his family to safety. It was a dangerous mission even though his Knights included strong people like Lancelot (Ioan Gruffudd), Bors (Ray Winstone), Galahad (Hugh Dancy), Dagonet (Ray Stevenson), Gawain (Joel Edgerton) and Tristan (Mads Mikkelsen).

They had to travel though dangerous enemy territory of northern Barbarians and there were rumors that Celdic (Stellan Srarsgard) and his Saxon army are heading into the same area to take over Britain, once the Romans leave. In this mission Arthur meets Guinevere ( Keira Knightley) and her mysterious shaman Merlin (Stephen Dillane), the leader of the native Woads, who convince Arthur to stay back and join the Britons to fight off the Saxons. Arthur leads his warriors into the Battle of Badon Hill and his victory leads him to become King of Britain.

This historical action drama, directed by Antoine Fuqua, is a brilliantly staged tale of a man who became a legend. He very well emphasis on the bonding of the warriors during their dangerous battle. The director just brushes on the romantic triangle between Guinevere, Arthur and Lancelot. He has succeeded to some extend to make the mythical Arthur into a real life figure. Clive Owen presents an excellent performance as a charismatic commander. Keira Knightley does a very good job as a wild British warrior who will do anything to liberate her people. The battle scenes are well taken.

We rate this movie Good.
