It is a romantic comedy set in New York about a lucky girl and a loser
guy who had no luck at all, but get their luck swapped when they kissed.
Lindsay Lohan plays Ashley Albright who works at a New York City public
relations firm. Ashley is so lucky that she always gets whatever she wants.
Everything she does is perfect. As a matter of fact she is known among
her friends as the luckiest girl in New York City.
On the other hand, Jake Hardin (Chris Pine) is such a loser that nothing
ever works out for him the way he wants. He manages a band and all his
attempts to get a recording contract with a decent studio had failed.
Ashley and Jake meet accidentally and they happen to kiss at a masquerade
ball which resulted in the swapping of their luck. Soon, Jake succeeded
in getting a contract for his band with a prominent producer but Ashley's
luck went down the drain. She suffered a series of humiliations and got
fired from her job and ended up in jail. In short, they ended up having
the opposite polarities of the sphere of luck. Later in life, Ashley and
Jake met again in a chance encounter and ended up falling in love with
each other.

Director Donald Petrie tries
his best to narrate a silly romantic tale with some charm and wit. But
the story is pretty well predictable without much suspense. He is trying
to warn young boys and girls to be careful when they kiss strangers.
Lindsay Lohan as Ashley presents a mediocre performance. Once her luck
changes, her role suffers a great set back. In the beginning she is so
likable and loveable but later it changes. On the other hand, Chris Pine
as Jake steals the show. There is not much chemistry between Lindsay and
Chris.
The film has a silly theme. Lindsay Lohan has been a crowd pleaser and
no matter what, her fans are going to love this film. It may appeal to
the teen crowd as well. For others watching this movie it may not be the
luckiest thing to do that day.
