A remake of 1953 Vince Price classic of the same name, it is a tale
of six friends weekend getaway that turned into a terrifying nightmare.
Carly (Elisha Cuthbertand) and Paige (Paris Hilton)
are best friends. On a weekend, a group of six people including them
decides to go from Gainsville to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, by car for
big football game. The group includes Carly, her boyfriend Wade (Jared
Padalecki), her twin brother Nick (Chad Michael), Nick's friend Dalton
(Jon Abrahams), Paige and her boyfriend Blake (Robert Richard).
On the way to the game they take a detour and camp
out for the night. Paige and Blake sneak out for sexual activities and
Dalton annoys everyone with his silly activities. While at the camp
site, they had a confrontation with a mysterious truck driver and the
next morning they find out that their car had been vantalised. Carley
and Wade hitch a ride to the near by town, Ambrose, in search of the
parts for the car and everyone else went for the football game.
While in Ambrose, Carley and Wade ventured to visit
the town's main attraction "Trudy's House Of Wax". Soon they
realised that there is something wrong with the remarkably lifelike
wax sculptures of "House of Wax". Find out more about the
mystery of Trudy's House Of Wax
Debut
director Jaume Collet Serra unsuccessfully narrates a horror story by
turning it into a torture chamber. With a minimally talented cast and
bad script, Serra struggles to bring some flow to the movie but he fails.
He has to focus mainly on Paris Hilton in order to generate some enthusiasm
among the moviegoers.
Most of the cast have practically no acting talents
and Paris Hilton is the worst. But she does steal the show. As Paige,
a party girl, she flirts and mops on and off, as well as shakes her
bottom in an abbreviated striptease and then runs for her life in her
underwear. Paris, notorious for her sex tapes, did not go all the way
in the film instead stopped by giving the viewers a winking sex eye.
Viewers will be curious to see Paris on the big screen in her first
major feature role.
As a whole it is an uninspiring, badly directed, badly
acted boring film. The story is very much predictable and it lacks horror
and originality. If you want to see Paris Hilton running around in her
undies, go and see it. But she definitely fails to scare the audience.
we rate this movie POOR.
