Through flash backs we learn that Hitch was a total failure in college but, after his girlfriend dumped
him, he transformed into a man who is an expert
in "Women's psychology", who knew exactly how to approach women and win them. He
coached his clients on how to ask out the woman of their dreams and how to go for
that defining first kiss. According to Hitch "Eight out of Ten women believe
that the first kiss will tell them everything they need to know about a
relationship".
One of his clients Albert Brennaman (Kevin James), a fat, shy
accountant is in love with celebrity, heiress Allegra Cole (Amber Valletta). But
Allegra doesn't even know that Albert exists. Hitch starts to coach Albert on how to win his dream
girl. While working with Albert,
Hitch meets Sara Melas (Eva Mendes) a tabloid gossip columnist for New York
Standard. Sara has given up on men but Hitch falls in love with her. He
wants to try everything he knows about women and work out a relationship with Sara.
Even though he succeeds in breaking some of the barriers to win Sara's heart,
complications arise when she finds out more about this specialist in
"Women"...
Director Andy Tennant successfully spins a funny story out of
a silly theme. He lets the characters develop their role to the full extend.
He makes good use of the Manhattan landscape. Even though the movie lacks
reality, Tennant succeeds in keeping the audience entertained through out the
film. awfully
Will Smith carries the movie with élan. His talent and versatility is
excellent. He has performed his part with charm and charisma. Some of the scenes are
hilarious, like
the one that he is trying to teach Albert how not to dance, in order to impress a
lady, and how to go in for that first kiss. Eva Mendes does quite a good job in
her role. She is awfully seducing. Kevin James is also perfect as Albert. His
expressions of nervousness and fright are really funny. It will be an enjoyable
date flick that sheds some light on what women want. There is no simple answer to
it, but it explores love and sex in a comical way.
