Based on Bill Cosby's stand-up comedy monologues about his childhood in Philadelphia, the movie is a family friendly entertainment. Veteran comedian Bill Cosby, makes a movie version of his old cartoon show, with the characters out of the old show transformed into a newly found world of 'Fat Albert'.

Fat Albert (Kenan Thompson) is a lovable young boy living in a rough neighborhood of Philadelphia. His friends Rudy (Shedrack Anderson III), Mushmouth (Jermaine Williams), Dumb Donald (Marques B.Houston) and Russell learn very valuable lessons from Fat Albert.

From the TV show, Albert unexpectedly leaps from the television into the "Real World" living room of Doris (Kyla Pratt), a lonely, troubled high school student. She is depressed over the recent loss of a loved one and has problems at school. When Doris started to cry, Albert felt sorry for her and decided to help her.

Doris takes Albert into the real world and his friends follow him. They learn a lot of things about what is going on in the 21st Century. Albert even falls for Doris's elder sister Lauri. Find out, if Fat Albert can help Doris?. Will the gang be able to handle the challenges of the real world?. 

Director Zwick narrates a funny story based on Bill Cosby's childhood experiences. Cosby presents his childhood friends as the characters. He courageously brings out what is still going on in the African-American communities.  

Kenan Thompson carries the film with elan. He is an innocent representation of a lovable, simple boy. Kyla Prat also does a good job. Movie have a cast of entertaining characters. It is a funny movie with a lot of sweet moments. Those who like TV shows, will love this film.
