The movie created by veteran screenwriter Charlie Kaufman, is a comedy. Kaufman has taken the title from Alexander Pope's poem 'Eloisa To Abeland'. Jim Carrey plays Joel, who cannot let go his passion for his former lover Clementine( Kate Winslet).

Joel is shy and compulsive but Clementine is extroverted and wild but Joel and Clementine fall in love at one point. Their beautiful yet chaotic affair is short-lived and ends very badly. She approaches Dr.Howars Mierzwiak (Tom Wilkinson) at Lacuna Inc, a Manhattan based company which specializes in medical procedure that can erase specific memories from mind, to have Joel erased from her mind.

Joel is stunned when he comes to know about this and now he wants her gone from his memory too and approach the same doctor for help. But as the procedure slowly destroyed his memories of Clementine, he recalls the good times they had together and realises too late that he wants to hold on to them. He tries to keep some of his memories in the hidden corners of his mind out of reach from the memory erasers. During the course of the film, which moves freely forward and backward in time, Joel and Clementine experience fragmented versions of relationships they had or might have had.

Kaufman's mission seems to be the penetration of the human mind which he accomplishes through a wonderful concept. Erasure of painful memories is full of original ideas, imagination as well as emotional truths. Gondry's lively filmmaking and Kaufman's cleverness and creativity makes this movie a great success.

Jim owns the show and his performance is OSCAR worthy. Kate also does a wonderful job. Carrey fans will love it. We rate this movie Very Good.
