It is a colourful fairy tale based on the Roland Dahl's children's story, about a chocolatier and a nice young boy obsessed with the chocolate factory.

Freddie Highmore plays Charlie Bucket who lives with his parents and grandparents in a run down house. They are so poor that Charlie gets to buy only one chocolate bar a year. Willy Wonka (Johnny Depp) the reclusive
candy maker owns the best chocolate factory in town. On his way to school, Charlie passes by the factory and loves the chocolaty smell in the air and wonders often, how great it will be inside the factory.

Reclusive Willy Wonka is a mysterious man. No one knows what is going on inside his factory. One day he decided to run a world wide draw to select five kids, who will get a chance to see the secrets of his factory. One of those kids will be selected as his heir to own all his wealth, as he has no family. A golden ticket is hidden inside five chocolate bars sold worldwide and winners can get a tour of his factory.

Gradually the winners are revealed and they are, Augustus Gloop (Philip Wiegrate), Veruca Salt (Julia Winters), Violet Beauregarde (Anna Sophia Robb), Mike Teauee (Jordon Fry) and finally the winner #5 is Charlie Bucket. Charlie's family is overwhelmed with joy and decided to send grandpa Joe (David Kelly) to accompany Charlie on his tour of the chocolate factory.

Once inside the factory Charlie was amazed by the wonderful setup and he had a magical journey of his life time. Unfortunately the other four kids on tour are selfish brats and they get into trouble with Willy Wonka. Willy decided to reveal the last secret of his factory to Charlie and take him as the heir to his immense
wealth.

Talented director Tim Burton successfully narrates a mystical, magical and imaginative fairy tale. Movie has great visual imagination and emotional resonance. He justifies the behaviour of his characters with great reasons. He also delivers a message to the young and the old that selfishness is a bad quality to possess. He draws
very good performances out of his talented cast.

Freddie Highmore is great as Charlie, but Johnny Depp steals the show. As Willy Wonka he is not only creepy but also funny. Depp's performance will be the reason for the great success of this film.

The film is a magical, mystical, fun filled fairy tale with enough entertainment value for the young and old. It is an absolute delight from the beginning to the end and the lovers of Dahl's book will greatly enjoy it.

We rate this movie GOOD.
