A family comedy, sequel to the 2003 hit film, follows the life of two families with plenty of kids.

Tom and Kate Baker (Steve Martin and Bonnie Hunt) with a dozen kids want to take a final vacation before two of their kids move away from home. One married, pregnant daughter Nora is in Houston while another one Lorraine is moving to New York for an internship. The Bakers had taken many vacations before at a lakeside resort and have had a good time at that spot. So Tom and Kate decided to take the whole family to that resort for a last memorable time together.

There he meets his childhood rival Jimmy Murtaugh (Eugene Levy) with his beautiful new bride Sarina (Carmen Electra) who is his third wife, and his eight kids. Now, Jimmy is a successful businessman and he owns a vacation home on the lakeside. Jimmy's kids are all well behaved, obedient and high achievers. On the other hand the Baker kids are easy going and careless.

As the story goes, a couple of Baker kids gets romantically interested in a couple of Murtaugh kids. But Tom is not at all happy about the situation. Find out more about this silly comedy.

Director Adam Shankman tries hard to narrate a silly family tale, energetically. He has assembled a large, highly talented cast but the film doesn't have much substance. He basically ends up promoting Steve Martin and Bonnie Hunt and the rest of the cast are just subs.

As usual, Steve Martin as Tom Baker presents a wonderful performance. As a dad he is old fashioned and anxious about the well being of his large family but he is also a loving dad who couldn't get enough of his kids. He panics when the kids grow up and start moving away. Bonnie Hunt as Kate is very good. She is considerate, patient and a loving mother.

The film doesn't have much substance but it has many amusing moments and a lot of silly laughs. If you are a Steve Martin fan, you will find this film a nice holiday treat.

We rate this movie BELOW AVERAGE.
